Introduction:
The Dubai Quality Award was introduced in 1994 by Dubai's Department of Economic Development, of which Sheikh Mohammed is Chairman. The Award was introduced as a means of improving the standards of businesses operating in Dubai, thus boosting external and internal trade.
The Award is presented to those companies that have demonstrated a commitment to best practices in their respective fields.
TheCompetition:
Companies that wish to apply for the award must submit material that showcases their commitment to quality in all areas of their business. Dubai Quality Award assessors review each submission according to the Dubai Quality Award Model. Companies are encouraged to assess themselves, by the same criteria, so that even losing entries benefit from the Award, by identifying areas for improvement.
After all entries have been reviewed, the assessors draw up a short list. The short listed companies are visited by the assessors, who then put forward their recommendations for the award winners to the Supreme Committee of the Award, which consists of high-ranking government officials, prominent local business people, and other experts.
The Dubai Quality Award includes the Dubai Quality Appreciation Programme for small and medium-sized organisations that have shown a commitment to excellence in their development.
