The People and the Leader

In the name of God I salute you, O kind and generous people.
As horses are saddled for race, we shall now commence our verse.

Like a sip from a drink, soothing souls beyond relief,
Bright letters within crystals captivate all creations alike.

With ease, deliberation, and recognition where it's due,
Poems rhythmically written; songs and wondrous tunes.

I recite, I recount; I weave the poems anew,
Deep within and out loud, waves of verse stir and spew.

With meaningful words we build great forts,
Upon Gog and Magog and their accompanying army too.

If Harut with Marut fulfilled their solemn vow,
Through mastering the spell of verse, we shall conquer them both.

A poet ascends his verse to infinite heights,
He proudly raises his words with honor dignified.

How can I be deceived by one who is malicious?
While I, familiar with his game, shall send him back suspicious.

I spent my life in longing; it engulfed my tired core,
Overwhelming passion has sound reasoning, I learned.

If youth is said to intoxicate, though no wine is drunk,
Infatuated I am.. by a beautiful gazelle, disillusioned.

Beauty perceived by many, as brilliant as a jewel,
Glamorously she triumphs outshining every flaw.

I shall heal her with a cure that alleviates the weary,
As passionately I long to fulfill what has been promised.

With flowers, honey and the fragrance of "Oud,"
That quench the thirst of cheeks, flushed as red as roses.

My time in its entirety upon her I spend,
With every passing moment I await her smile of content.

A blink from her eyes like a sword would slay,
Lashes aligned as arrows sheltering the eyes within.

The finest necklace she wears, it proudly adorns her neck.
Against its gleaming whiteness, the jewels are radiant.

Many years I concealed her from envious souls,
To this day, her deepest secrets I treasured and never told.

He who loves sincerely fulfills your demands and more,
He who loves will not depart, as long as his soul still yearns.

I discern prices of most precious items and fine necklaces too,
One who values excellence, shall price them among the best few.

I value their worth, in detail and with utter care.
After thorough examination, I classify them as jewels rare.

With abundance and passion we fill our country's core,
With a troop of valiant lions we defend its solid floor.

Our flag is pulled taut, with ambitions it soars,
Fluttering in highest skies, protected by our Lord.

Raised by a distinguished knight: Zayed, our father,
Though absent in body... among us, he lives forever.

In "Al-Sadirah" I witnessed a most momentous day,
Inside a Bedouin tent, where triumph's victors met.

Zayed and Rashid, an encounter of greats indeed,
For them, history's pen from ink has become deplete.

A witness I was to chivalry and the creators of good,
Victory smiled contently, as determinedly they built.

Without endless documents, promises were sealed,
A word of honor would suffice for the pillars to be complete.

On the land of "Al-Sadirah", a path was set in arduous times,
It paved the way for harmony; distress was left behind.

History generates laws, yields leaders of diligent rule,
History embraces kings, pioneers and warriors too.

Upon a path of clarity, we commenced our journey,
Turning deserts into towns of paradise and greenery.

We built resilient structures within the vast ocean,
On its surface we composed verses of a poem.

The wind within our grasp, at our command it blew,
As time passed us by, its reins we steered and moved.

With necessities, desires, and what was agreed upon,
We built beyond measures as our people cheered us on.

Nations were built by those who for the best did thrive,
He who offers a helping hand shall taste its gain in time.

The world is full of accidents that may befall the oblivious,
Who, unaware, was stabbed and bled from deeds malicious.

One who has experienced the world's ups and downs,
Will comprehend the power and wisdom possessed by time.

It is the creator of incidents that relentlessly collide,
Every moment has its person, occurring at a set time.

The fortunate may prosper as the envious look on,
While others not so lucky, in miseries they drown.

If one deserts his past, he will be lost in oceans;
If he remains within past's folds, he is doomed and forgotten.

You may learn from what has passed, from ancestors' wisdom too,
Live the present for the present, as it comes and when it's due.

With the birth of new ages, new traditions are born,
If your thoughts remain dormant, a stranger you are at home.

Every valley has a guide; every 'Oud' has its perfume,
This is the way of our Merciful God with his many creations.

Earnings of good days, on bad nights compensate,
Every endeavor is measured, in one's account it's placed.

With precision it is calculated, to what extent would it suffice?
Would an 'if' yield benefit, or would it yield woe?

We shall return to the start, the foundation of our rule,
Yet driven by ambition, the people shall now move.

In good times and bad, Zayed's kindness never ceased,
Showered by his benevolence, his people were pleased.

In the name of glorious unity, Zayed was undeterred,
He spoke with sound reason, a true winner of bets conferred.

A kin he was to Arabs, though politics has boundaries,
Moments witnessed by time, and recorded in history.

In the War of October, Arabs' homes he defended,
With a stance so honorable, his unwavering faith reflected.

The oil's riches were spent, in defense of people's lives,
As intruders felt endangered, they retraced every step.

More threatening than guns and fire, was the Economic war,
But conquest's reins Zayed grasped, and with a smile he soared.

He spent his lifetime coaching, correcting our mistakes,
His possessions he sacrificed for his people's sake.

Unwaveringly I vowed, by crucial promises bound,
I vowed to the one akin to ancestors of my past.

Upon Zayed's eternal path, Khalifa carried on,
Turning arid land into paradise showered by his kindness.

A mastermind in life and all that's meant to be,
Attending to his people's needs for endless days and nights.

Against the wrong his sword is drawn, his love for justice prevails,
Every command he exerts, people would instantly obey.

If he gestured, in an instant, the earth would line with men,
In his strong will and purpose they believe and they depend.

Basking in his protection, his nation remains grateful,
With justice and fairness, he rules the Emirati people.

Supreme in his wisdom which yields nothing but the best,
He resolutely leads; with God's help he is blessed.

His actions backed by proof, enlightening the dejected,
A knight of all time, his country's flag he lifted.

Together we stayed attentive, while others were asleep,
Planning for our people's happiness, their joy we did seek.

Our home is forever protected by a powerful army,
Led by brave "Bu Khalid", as his soldiers face the enemy.

Mohammed who is fearless, his word never falters,
The Crown Prince but commands, and the field is ready for battle.

Hail to him my brother, many females did he charm,
With this true leader, our home thrives away from harm.

Along an upward path, our loyal nation strides,
With men, young and old, reaching for brilliant heights.

My family, my people... within them I find pride,
Our guests they embrace, yet attentive if danger strikes.

The benevolent, by his people, is raised and glorified,
While the selfish and the greedy shall in fear be imprisoned.

This nation prides its past; to this day it kindly gives,
The fruit of past endeavors, in our present still lives.

In defense of our home, the enemy was banished
By leaders who brought forth happiness and joy.

Justly they ruled, refusing all that is wrong,
If volcanoes were to erupt, they met its fire with fire.

Before me all are equal, there is no master and slave,
Brotherhood unites our nation, harmoniously it thrives.

With the people and leaders; by my nation I shall stand.
Their love runs through my veins, it resides within my core.

I see it drawn on faces of our children, youth, and old,
To "Al-Maktoum" and "Al-Nahyan" from the youngest of them all.
