Enough I Tasted from Him, Enough
My salutations, felicitations and congratulations,
To you who respond to greetings.
Caressed by breezes from the sunset,
Fragrance from its breezes brisk.
I convey it in letters so plain,
Yet conceal it from the eyes of others.
If I complain my peer, whom I love,
There is nothing to complain of.
Received me with a smile and warm welcome,
I know nothing of intentions concealed.
Enough I tasted from him, enough,
Sufficient, forgiveness is for his excuses.
Should I forget him even as he forgot me?
Even if the nights passed slowly?
* It is a tradition in Arabic love poems and songs to use the masculine pronoun or possessive term (he, him or his) when referring to a woman
