
An edited translation of Al Bayan's reprint of Sheikh Mohammed's statement in the Dubai World Cup brochure
In a statement in the Dubai World Cup brochure, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed people to Nad Al Sheba Racecourse for the 13th Dubai World Cup.
He wrote that 13 countries participated in last year's event and that there were winners from the UAE, the USA, South Africa, Hong Kong and Japan. This year, due to the success the Dubai World Cup has enjoyed since its launch in 1996, 25 countries will be taking part.
The Dubai World Cup is the final event of the Dubai International Racing Carnival, which attracts the world's best racing horses.
The Dubai World Cup will move to Meydan Racecourse in 2010.
