
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum asserted that the civil aviation sector has become one of the key growth drivers for the UAE?s economy highlighting the support it lends to growth of trade and tourism sectors.
In a statement on announcing the annual financial results of Emirates Group, Sheikh Mohammed said:
“The 2013 World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Competitiveness Report ranked the United Arab Emirates 19th amongst the world’s most competitive markets. The UAE was able to the top the list of six categories in the said report; a global testimony we take pride in and a catalyst to achieve further progress on all levels.”
Sheikh Mohammed added, “For centuries, the status of the UAE as a prominent trade hub was well known. We have invested in establishing a strong and sustainable world-class infrastructure of airports, tourism and trade to cement this status in parallel with investing in education, health care and housing for the benefit of our citizens.”
“Our leading national institutions have led the way in supporting the progress of this beloved country, thus creating a dynamic environment that supports constant development,” added Sheikh Mohammed.
“Today, Emirates Group operates in more than 80 countries and plays a central role in building bridges between civilisations and catalysing trade. During its 55 years of operations, Emirates Group has managed to balance between profitability and sustainability. The group remains faithful to the principles of sound trade, competitiveness and responsibility,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
Sheikh Mohammed asserted, “Emirates Group plays an essential role in the development of the civil aviation sector which has become one of the key growth drivers for the UAE’s economy highlighting the support it lends to growth of trade and tourism sectors.”
